11 active cases in J&K at present, results of 25 samples awaited, say officials

Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNO): An infant and his seven year-old sibling were tested positive for novel Coronavirus on a day Kashmir reported its first death of a positive patient from north Kashmir taking the total toll of positive cases to 11 in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said that total active cases in Jammu and Kashmir have mounted to 11 with two more positive cases from Srinagar both grandchildren of a positive case. Officials said that two more case have tests positive in Kashmir while many are under active surveillance and samples have been sent for results. Nodal officer for COVID-19 in Kashmir Dr SM Qadri told KNO that 54 more samples have sent for results today and the results is yet awaited since the procedure takes time. He said the recently received sales are about 150 and all have tested negative and many suspects have been kept in isolation. Nodal officer Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) Gh Yatoo told KNO that seven samples have been collected today there and many have been put in isolation. Director National Health Mission (NHM) Jammu and Kashmir Bhupinder Kumar (IAS) as per—KNO said that total number of people under active surveillance across jammu and Kashmir are 5482, 379 samples were collected out of which 341 turned to be negative, the positive cases have mounted to 13 among which a patient has recovered and an elderly person with travel history of outside J&K died this morning. He said that two more cases who have tested positive are the contacts of an existing positive case having travel history of Saudi Arabia. “Keeping in view the prevailing situation across the union territory of Jammu and kashmir we have issued a notification about fulfilling of some posts of MBBS doctors and specialists, all those willing should ring up first,” he said. As per the government figures the total number of positive cases across the Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 11. As per the daily information bulletin 5482 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 3053 persons have kept under home quarantine. According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 117 persons have kept under hospital quarantine while as 551 persons have completed surveillance period. 1761 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 379 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 379, 341 samples have been tested negative while as 13 have been tested positive among them one has recovered and a positive patient has died due to COVID-19 besides that reports of 25 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
